Preview: Baldwin Braves vs. Spalding Jaguars
Baldwin is 5-0 against Spalding since January of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Baldwin Braves will head out on the road to face off against the Spalding Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Baldwin waltzed into their contest Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 55-45 win over Swainsboro. Given Baldwin's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Swainsboro is ranked 207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Madison Ruff continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with six assists. The matchup was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kassidy Neal, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Spalding has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 20 points or more this season. They breezed by Howard on the road to the tune of 62-25. That 62-25 margin sets a new team best for Spalding this season.
Baldwin's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Spalding, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Baldwin against Spalding in their previous matchup back in February as the squad secured a 82-12 win. With Baldwin ahead 42-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
