Baseball Recap: University Prep Takes a Loss

University Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Overlake Owls. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Owls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 last Monday.

Hawthorne Moody spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, University Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Keppler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those hits marked the first that Keppler got this season.

University Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Overlake, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. University Prep will face off against Sultan at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Overlake, they will head out to face off against Cle Elum-Roslyn at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Overlake 3.3, Cle Elum-Roslyn 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
