Basketball Game Preview: Monument Valley Mustangs vs. Chinle Wildcats

The Monument Valley Mustangs will square off against the Chinle Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Monument Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell just short of Ganado by a score of 70-67 on Tuesday. The Mustangs were up 22-8 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Meanwhile, Chinle came tearing into Tuesday's contest with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 45-40 W over the Fighting Scouts. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Fighting Scouts are ranked 104th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chinle's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Monument Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
