Basketball Game Preview: Culbertson Cowboys vs. Savage Warriors

Culbertson and Savage are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2021, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Culbertson Cowboys will jump right back in to play the Savage Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Culbertson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They breezed past Lambert/Richey to the tune of 69-31. The victory continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the R&L Fusion: they've now won five in a row.

Bridger Salvevold had a dynamite game for Culbertson, going 9-for-17 en route to 19 points and five rebounds. Salvevold's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Deen, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 13 points.

Culbertson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, Savage hadn't done well against Froid/Medicine Lake recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Everything went Savage's way against Froid/Medicine Lake as Savage made off with a 47-21 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Culbertson's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Savage, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.

Culbertson was able to grind out a solid victory over Savage in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 50-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Culbertson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
