Basketball Recap: Montesano Takes a Loss

Montesano was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the Elma Eagles. The matchup was a 19-19 toss-up at halftime, but the Bulldogs couldn't quite close it out.

Elma's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaac McGaffey, who went 6-for-11 en route to 16 points in addition to five boards and three blocks. McGaffey has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Traden Carter, who posted 13 points and five steals.

Montesano's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Elma, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-8.

Montesano does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Elma, they will challenge La Center on Saturday. One thing working in La Center's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
