Baseball Recap: Fishers Has No Trouble Against Greenfield-Central

Fishers had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Greenfield-Central on Saturday. The Tigers blew past the Cougars 12-3. That nine run margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.

Quinn Distler looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Fishers got a massive performance out of Huston Dunn, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs. That home run marked the first that Dunn has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Trevor Hall, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Fishers kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenfield-Central only managed seven hits.

The victory (which was Fishers' third in a row) raised their record to 10-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Greenfield-Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Fishers will host Center Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3.9, the Trojans 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Greenfield-Central, they are on the road again on Saturday to play Valparaiso at 12:45 p.m.
