Basketball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

Athens was the 65-35 winner over Marathon when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Athens Bluejays took a blow against the Marathon Red Raiders on Friday, falling 53-8. The match marked the Bluejays' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Athens dropped their record down to 2-11 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Marathon, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

Athens has already played their next contest (against Rib Lake), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Marathon is taking a road trip to face off against Nekoosa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
