Peter Sketchly made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Nolan Vanbuskirk was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Brady Murphy was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Chief Sealth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lincoln ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They walked away with a 9-6 win over Garfield. The victory continues a trend for the Lynx in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.
Chief Sealth pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
