Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

After losing to East Chicago Central the last time they met, Hammond Academy of Science & Tech decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Hawks blew past the Cardinals 9-1 on Saturday. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by eight runs or more this season.

Noah Michniewicz was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Concepcion, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with nine stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Foster, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Chicago Central only posted an OBP of .310.

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for East Chicago Central, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.
