Recap: Garden Grove Argonauts vs. Westminster Lions
After a string of three wins, the Garden Grove Argonauts's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 69-49 walloping at the hands of Westminster. Garden Grove has struggled against Westminster recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Several Argonauts players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Evan Juarez, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Drue Anzai, who scored 11 points.
Westminster's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Matt Tran led the charge by scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tran has scored all season. Vincent Ton was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five steals and two blocks.
Garden Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Westminster, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Garden Grove will be playing in front of their home fans against Segerstrom at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Segerstrom is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses. As for Westminster, they will head out on the road to take on Katella at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Katella focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Wednesday.
