Soccer Game Preview: Bishop Moore vs. St. Johns Country Day

The Bishop Moore Hornets will take on the St. Johns Country Day Spartans in a holiday battle at at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bishop Moore's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over The First Academy. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Royals are ranked 235th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Paisley Rawlin and Eliana Cordero scored both of Bishop Moore's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Johns Country Day). They put the hurt on Stanton with a sharp 4-0 victory on Thursday. The result kept the Spartans happy, as they haven't lost a game since November 22nd.

St. Johns Country Day is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those eight matches. As for Bishop Moore, their win bumped their record up to 6-4-1.
