Basketball Recap: Columbus Comes Up Short

Columbus extended their losing streak to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-6. They took a blow against the Chattahoochee County Panthers, falling 69-34. The contest marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

As for Chattahoochee County, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. That 35 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Chattahoochee County had a senior duo take command as Curtis (Champ ) Simpson shot 42% from the field to rack up 16 points along with six steals and five assists and Javen Tullis went 7-for-14 en route to 16 points and three steals. With that strong performance, Simpson is now averaging an impressive 2.5 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of A'Nyzhon (Bam) Purnell, who posted eight points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Coming up, Columbus will face off against Monroe at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Chattahoochee County, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-44 win against Sumter County on the 9th.
