Croatan had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the East Carteret Mariners 60-0 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Mariners: they've now won seven in a row.

Kannon McBride was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 145 yards and five touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes. Those 145 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Andrew Boucher was in the mix too, providing Croatan with two TDs.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Croatan's defense and their five sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece.

Croatan didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 49-7 victory against Topsail on the 29th. As for East Carteret, they have also already played their next contest, a 48-20 defeat against West Carteret on the 29th.
