Recap: Lynn Bears vs. Marion County Red Raiders
It was a good run, but the Lynn Bears unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. The game between them and Marion County wasn't particularly close, with Lynn falling 75-59. While losing is never fun, Lynn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Marion County is ranked 119th).
Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Braylen Roberts, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Roberts is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Kelly, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Joe Aldridge was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with seven assists and five rebounds for Marion County. Aldridge has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. Tye Madison was another key contributor, scoring 24 points along with three steals.
Lynn's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Marion County, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season.
Lynn will head out on the road to face off against Belgreen at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Belgreen is coming into the match with ten straight victories at home, meaning Lynn will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. Marion County will take on Hackleburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Marion County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
