Basketball Recap: Edgewood Comes Up Short

The Edgewood Cougars lost 55-32 to the Brookville Blue Devils on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 644th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 224th).

Despite the loss, Edgewood still got an impressive performance from Madisyn Verhoff, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 12 points and five boards. Those 12 points gave Verhoff a new career-high.

Edgewood dropped their record down to 2-14 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Brookville, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-5.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Edgewood Cougars face off against the Harrison Wildcats at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Harrison will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something Edgewood surely won't give up without a fight. As for Brookville, they will face off against Valley View at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday.
