Preview: Edison Golden Bears vs. Burbank Bulldogs
The Edison Golden Bears will be playing at home against the Burbank Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Edison will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1108th, while Burbank is ranked 505th).
Last Friday, Edison had to suffer through a rough 73-6 loss at the hands of Alamo Heights. Edison was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-0.
Meanwhile, Burbank had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points), and they went ahead and made it three last Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 35-21 win over Harlandale. Burbank pushed the score to 35-14 by the end of the third, a deficit Harlandale cut but never quite recovered from.
Keven Hernandez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 290 yards and five touchdowns. Hernandez is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Leo Lozano was another key contributor, picking up 138 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Edison and nudges their season record down to 1-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.0 points per game. As for Burbank, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1.
Edison came up short against Burbank in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 32-21. Will Edison have more luck at home instead of on the road?
