Baseball Recap: Eldorado Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eldorado). They were the clear victor by a 15-5 margin over the St. Pius X Sartans on Wednesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Golden Eagles, who have now won three matches in a row.

Kavan Salas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Timothy Kamphuis, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Jace Sanchez-Reynolds was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Eldorado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Pius X only posted an OBP of .400.

Eldorado pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for St. Pius X, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Coming up, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Eldorado Golden Eagles face off against Volcano Vista Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Pius X, they will head out on the road to square off against Los Lunas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Pius X has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
