Game recap: Fullerton High School Football Team bests Sonora

LA HABRA, Calif. - Leading by 33 points entering the fourth quarter didn't stop Fullerton (Calif.) from scoring, as it added 14 points in the final quarter on the way to a 50-9 victory over Sonora (La Habra, Calif.) on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a Scott Lloyd touchdown pass to James Hubbard in the first quarter, the Indians were up 22-3 at the half.

Fullerton grew its lead to 33 points entering the fourth quarter. FHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Lloyd to John Hopper.

Sonora's lone touchdown came on a pass in the fourth quarter.

The Indians had given up an average of 16.2 points prior to the contest. Sonora's nine points were below their season average of 13.7 per game.

The victory was a step in the right direction for Fullerton, which was coming off a 48-21 defeat at the hands of La Habra in its previous game. The loss was the third in a row for Sonora.

In a Freeway game next week Sonora (1-6) takes on Buena Park, and Fullerton (6-1) will go up against Sunny Hills also in a Freeway game.
