Grimsley hasn't had much luck against Northern Guilford recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Whirlies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Nighthawks at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Grimsley comes in on five and Northern Guilford on three.
Grimsley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Carolina's top teams: Ashley, who was ranked sixth at the time (Grimsley was ranked 23rd). The Whirlies skirted past the Screaming Eagle 6-4.
Jacob Benbow tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Clay Rosser was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Northern Guilford never let their opponents score on Monday. They blew past Western Guilford 10-0. Considering the Nighthawks have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Yancey Burleson, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Western Guilford off the board.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jorge Torres, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Nathanael Lorczak, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Northern Guilford's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Grimsley, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Grimsley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Northern Guilford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
