Basketball Recap: Myers Park Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Myers Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 60-46 bruising from the Ardrey Kell Knights. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Knights are ranked 21st).

Despite the loss, Myers Park still got an impressive performance from Amani Barner, who shot 52% from the field to rack up 26 points. That was a full 56.5% of the Mustangs' points, marking the fourth time in a row Barner has posted more than a third of the team's points. Arianna Shaw also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Ardrey Kell was led to victory by Imani Shelton and Autumn Washington. Shelton dropped a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds, while Washington went 7-for-17 on her way to 16 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Shelton a new career-high in assists (two). Autumn Turner was another key player, putting up seven points and six boards.

Myers Park's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Ardrey Kell, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Myers Park wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 47-29 victory against Charlotte Catholic on the 5th. As for Ardrey Kell, they have also already played their next game, a 69-48 win against Nation Ford on the 5th.
