Basketball Game Preview: Norland Vikings vs. Carol City Chiefs

Norland is 9-1 against Carol City since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Vikings will take on the Chiefs at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Norland has four straight wins, Carol City has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Norland is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Miami by a score of 69-57 on Tuesday. The Vikings pushed the score to 55-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Stingarees cut but never quite recovered from.

Norland can attribute much of their success to Zachary Joseph, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 16 points and three steals, and Jahquori Lombrage, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Lombrage a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Omari Meda, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Norland was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Carol City was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 71-65 to Somerset Academy (Silver Palms).

Norland's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Carol City, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything came up roses for Norland against Carol City in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, as the squad secured a 78-41 win. In that matchup, the Vikings amassed a halftime lead of 38-11, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
