Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Sydney Da Silva and Sydney Faris Lead Marblehead to Victory

Marblehead won the last time they faced Winthrop and things went their way on Thursday too. The Magicians blew past the Vikings 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Magicians.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Marblehead took every set by at least 14 points. The final score came out to 25-7, 25-4, 25-11.

Marblehead was led to victory by Sydney Faris and Sydney Da Silva. Faris had nine aces and four digs, while Da Silva had ten assists and two aces. Those nine aces gave Faris a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Marblehead was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in three consecutive contests.

Marblehead's record is now 3-1. As for Winthrop, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Marblehead is set to challenge their familiar foe Peabody Veterans Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Winthrop will square off against rival Gloucester at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
