Basketball Recap: Edgewood Academy's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Edgewood Academy fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Fort Dale Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Dale Academy Eagles. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Edgewood Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lexie Smith posted 42 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Smith has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times she's played.

Edgewood Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-10. As for Fort Dale Academy, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2.

As of now, neither Edgewood Academy nor Fort Dale Academy have any future games scheduled.
