Softball Game Preview: West Scranton Invaders vs. Riverside Vikings

The West Scranton Invaders will head out on the road to challenge the Riverside Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. West Scranton will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

On Monday, West Scranton made easy work of Scranton and carried off a 14-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Invaders in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won nine in a row.

West Scranton got a massive performance out of Brianna Connor, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four hits gave Connor a new career-high. Bianca Markovitch also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

West Scranton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .658. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Riverside posted their closest victory since April 14th on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Old Forge 9-8.

The team relied heavily on Mackenzie Keller, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Cassidy Merrifield, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

West Scranton's record is now 6-13. As for Riverside, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-11.
