Montwood fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Pebble Hills on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 5-4. The Rams' defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

Grace Ponzio was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Loralai Rodriguez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Montwood's loss dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Pebble Hills, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-14 record this season.

Montwood didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 25-7 win against Franklin on the 19th. As for Pebble Hills, they have also already played their next match, a 19-1 victory against Coronado on the 19th.
