Basketball Recap: Webster County vs. Marion County Eagles

This season hasn't been kind to Webster County, who are still winless after their 18th contest. They took a serious blow against Marion County on Friday, falling 72-9. Webster County has struggled against the Eagles recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marion County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sage Davis, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Davis pulled down eight or more rebounds. Valencia Alridge was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Webster County's loss was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-18. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.4 points per game. As for Marion County, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.

Webster County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Marion County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Wildcats at 2:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Schley County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
