Baseball Recap: Bishop Mcdevitt Sets Scoring Season-High Against Oley Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop McDevitt). They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Oley Valley Lynx on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Crusaders considering their one-run performance the match before.

Tyler Shroy was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Ethan Mosteller was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Bishop McDevitt: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-10 otherwise. Josh Bernard also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Bishop McDevitt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bishop McDevitt's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10. As for Oley Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

Looking ahead, Bishop McDevitt will venture away from home to square off against Hershey at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Oley Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against York Suburban at 4:00 p.m.
