Preview: Wayne Valley Indians vs. Manchester Regional Falcons
The Wayne Valley Indians will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Manchester Regional Falcons at 1:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Wayne Valley sitting on eight straight wins and Manchester Regional on nine.
On Thursday, Wayne Valley earned a 57-48 victory over Wayne Hills. Given Wayne Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Wayne Hills is ranked 135th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wayne Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anthony Apicella, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Apicella is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Omar Ali was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, Manchester Regional was able to grind out a solid victory over Leonia on Tuesday, taking the game 53-42.
Wayne Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Manchester Regional, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.
