Baseball Recap: Midd-West Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Montoursville, Midd-West was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They walked away with a 16-13 victory over the Milton Black Panthers. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Black Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Kyle Shupp was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, five runs, and two doubles. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Derek Wert also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Midd-West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.2.

Midd-West's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Milton, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Midd-West will challenge rival Danville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Milton is set to take on their familiar foe Mount Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
