Softball Game Preview: Santa Fe Catholic Hawks vs. Lakeland Christian Vikings

Santa Fe Catholic hasn't had much luck against Lakeland Christian recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hawks will challenge the Vikings at 1:30 p.m. Santa Fe Catholic's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Lakeland Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Santa Fe Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They put the hurt on All Saints' Academy with a sharp 11-1 victory. Considering the Hawks have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Lakeland Christian earned a 12-8 win over Davenport two weeks ago. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Lakeland Christian got a massive performance out of Peyton McNab, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave McNab a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paityn Donalson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Santa Fe Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Lakeland Christian, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.

Santa Fe Catholic might still be hurting after the 19-0 loss they got from Lakeland Christian in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
