Football Recap: Hackensack Takes a Loss

After soaring to 38 points the game before, Hackensack was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They came up short against the Wayne Valley Indians, falling 33-13. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Indians are ranked 35th).

Elizer Estevez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wayne Valley, rushing for 101 yards and a pair of TDs, while also picking up 49 receiving yards. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 57 yards.

Hackensack's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Wayne Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hackensack will welcome Ridgewood at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Comets are facing the Maroons at the right time seeing as the Maroons are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Wayne Valley, they will host Wayne Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots' defense has only allowed 13.5 points per game this season, so the Indians' offense will have their work cut out for them.
