Poteet waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Van Alstyne Panthers. This was a revenge game for the Pirates: when they faced off against the Panthers last Saturday, they had to take a 2-1 defeat.

Poteet didn't let Van Alstyne take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-22.

Poteet's win bumped their record up to 18-9. As for Van Alstyne, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 16-6.

Poteet and Van Alstyne should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Pirates will challenge Horn at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (170 vs. 593). Meanwhile, Van Alstyne (ranked 156th) will meet Bells (ranked 620th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
