Basketball Recap: Skipstone Academy Takes a Loss

Skipstone Academy lost against Flint River Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Skipstone Academy Warriors took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Flint River Academy Wildcats. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Skipstone Academy lost, don't look at Scooter Barkley. Despite the final result, he posted 28 points. That was a full 63.6% of Skipstone Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Nick Cloud, who earned 13 points.

Flint River Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamir Muhammad, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Muhammad a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of D. J. Baums, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Skipstone Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Flint River Academy, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-5.

Skipstone Academy will square off against Trinity Christian School of Griffin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Flint River Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Strong Rock Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Flint River Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
