Baseball Game Preview: Columbia Roughnecks vs. Hitchcock Bulldogs

The Columbia Roughnecks will venture away from home to take on the Hitchcock Bulldogs at 6:20 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Columbia has seven straight wins, Hitchcock has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Columbia's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Bay City by a score of 3-0.

Grant Thrasher was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Hitchcock came up short against Bay Area Christian on Tuesday, falling 11-3.

Columbia pushed their record up to 10-7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hitchcock, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
