Volleyball Recap: Canterbury Crusaders vs. The Classical Academy of Sarasota Patriots

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Canterbury can now relate to. They fell 3-1 to The Classical Academy of Sarasota Patriots on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.

While Canterbury had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-20, 25-27, 25-21.

Mattingly Pizzo paced Canterbury's offense, picking up 15 kills. Pizzo got some help from Eve Sheffer and her 26 assists. Sheffer was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.

Canterbury dropped their record down to 10-11 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for The Classical Academy of Sarasota, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9.

Canterbury does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for The Classical Academy of Sarasota, they will head out on the road to challenge Keswick Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
