Basketball Recap: Martins Mill Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins at Home

While it was all tied up 24-24 at halftime, Martins Mill was not quite Madison's equal in the second half on Friday. They took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Trojans are ranked 385th).

When it comes to explaining why Martins Mill lost, don't look at Archer Schneider. Despite the final result, he shot 50% from the field en route to 31 points and seven rebounds. That was a full 62% of the Mustangs' points, marking the fourth time in a row Schneider has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sawyer Moore, who had nine points.

Martins Mill's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2. As for Madison, they pushed their record up to 5-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Martins Mill will take on Tyler Legacy in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' defense better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 56.4 points per game this season. As for Madison, they will take on Mojave in a tournament on Friday.
