Basketball Game Preview: Genoa-Hugo/Karval Pirates vs. Hi-Plains Patriots

Genoa-Hugo/Karval hasn't had much luck against Hi-Plains recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 2:00 p.m. Hi-Plains took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Genoa-Hugo/Karval, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Genoa-Hugo/Karval earned a 45-38 victory over Flagler.

Rylee Corn was the offensive standout of the game as she dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Kazlei Vaughn was another key player, putting up six points along with seven boards and seven steals.

Meanwhile, Hi-Plains might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Stratton an easy 59-33 win. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Hi-Plains, they now also have a losing record of 2-3.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval came up short against Hi-Plains in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 34-28. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
