Baseball Game Preview: Peninsula Seahawks vs. Central Kitsap Cougars

The Peninsula Seahawks will venture away from home to face off against the Central Kitsap Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Peninsula's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Silas. The win continues a trend for the Seahawks in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won four in a row.

Peninsula got a great performance from Hayden Bundy as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Peninsula saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kainoa Coit, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Jonathon Vergara-Dykes also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Peninsula was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Silas only posted a batting average of .048.

Meanwhile, Central Kitsap entered their tilt with River Ridge on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Hawks 11-4. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly seven runs.

Central Kitsap pushed their record up to 10-8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Peninsula, their record now sits at 12-6-1.

Peninsula beat Central Kitsap 5-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Seahawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
