Baseball Recap: Three Straight Home Victories for Refugio

Refugio's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Yorktown Wildcats a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to T-Mike Rosas's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Refugio is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Ray Lewis was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Refugio's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-8-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Mattew Perez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Refugio was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Yorktown only posted a batting average of .056.

Refugio pushed their record up to 9-8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Yorktown, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
