Volleyball Recap: Poway Takes a Loss

Poway lost against Carlsbad two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Titans came up short against the Lancers, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Titans have suffered since March 19th.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-19, 25-16.

Poway's offense was headlined by Jake Sawyer and Brandon Sawyer, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Grant Rodriguez and his seven assists.

Among those leading the charge was Ben Sauerwine, who had 21 assists and three digs.

Poway has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-11 record this season. As for Carlsbad, they are on a roll lately: they've won 20 of their last 21 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-2 record this season.

Poway will square off against Rancho Bernardo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Titans are facing the Broncos at the right time seeing as the Broncos are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Carlsbad, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on La Costa Canyon at 5:45 p.m. on the 15th.
