Basketball Recap: Chace White and Amari Gadson Secure Win for Motivation

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Motivation). They walked away with a 59-46 victory over KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy on Tuesday. With that win, the Jaguars brought their scoring average up to 52 points per game.

Leading Motivation to victory were Amari Gadson and Chace White. Gadson posted 21 points and six steals, while White earned 19 points and five steals. White's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Divevea Smith, who put up seven points and six steals.

Despite the defeat, KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tali Baker went 9 of 11 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds. Those 20 points gave Baker a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rahimer Nugin- Johnson, who had seven points.

The victory made it two in a row for Motivation and bumps their season record up to 2-1-1. As for KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Motivation will take on Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Motivation has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy, they will challenge Science Leadership Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
