Softball Game Preview: Faith Academy Rams vs. Tuscaloosa County Wildcats

The Faith Academy Rams will take on the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats in a tournament on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Thursday, Faith Academy made easy work of Citronelle and carried off a 14-7 victory. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, Tuscaloosa County won against Prattville on Tuesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Wildcats blew past the Lions 7-1. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Tuscaloosa County got a great performance from Cayleigh Pearson as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Pearson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Holly Beth Brooks was excellent, going 1-for-5 with one home run and four RBI. Jaslene Belden was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Tuscaloosa County's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 32-8-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Faith Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11.
