Softball Recap: Robinson Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Robinson got themselves on the board against Owen Valley on Friday, but Owen Valley never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Patriots. Winning may never get old, but the Maroons sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Eva Herman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leighton Boyd, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Mallory Mosbey also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Robinson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Owen Valley only managed three hits.

Robinson pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Owen Valley, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Robinson has already played their next matchup, a 1-0 defeat against Edgewood on the 12th. As for Owen Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-8 victory against Marshall on the 12th.
