Softball Recap: Spackenkill Wins Going Away Against Dover

After only one run in their last contest, Spackenkill made sure to put some runs up on the board against Dover on Thursday. The Spartans blew past the Dragons 13-0. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won five in a row.

Cadie Hanaburgh made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cora Polakowski, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Ashleigh Burgess also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Spackenkill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got Spackenkill back to even at 8-8. As for Dover, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Spackenkill has already played their next matchup, an 8-3 loss against Highland on the 20th. Dover does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
