Volleyball Recap: Cardinal Newman Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cardinal Newman can now relate to. They fell 3-1 to the Archie Williams Peregrine Falcons on Tuesday. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Peregrine Falcons when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The final score came out to 25-23, 25-23, 18-25, 25-15.

Kahlio Vaetoe paced Cardinal Newman's offense, picking up 22 kills. Vaetoe got some help from Carter Logan and his 28 assists. Finally, Vaetoe was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.

Cardinal Newman's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Archie Williams, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-20.

Cardinal Newman does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Archie Williams, they will take on Alhambra at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Peregrine Falcons surely won't give up without a fight.
