Baseball Recap: Eldon Takes a Loss

Eldon had lost six straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 12-11 to make it seven. They came up short against the Mexico Bulldogs, falling 12-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in March.

As for Mexico, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-10. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Mexico's part, Brady Fox made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Fox has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Chance McCarty and Drew DeMint did most of the damage at the plate: McCarty went 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while DeMint got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. McCarty has become a key player for Mexico: the team is 10-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-9 otherwise. Zach Jahn was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.

Eldon has already played their next matchup (against Wright City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Mexico, they will head out on the road to face off against Fatima at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
