Baseball Game Preview: Guilford Vikings vs. Hononegah Indians

Guilford is 0-10 against Hononegah since May of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Vikings will welcome the Indians at 4:30 p.m. Guilford has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Harlem hit Guilford with a five-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings came up short against the Huskies, falling 12-3.

Guilford saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Kegley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Kegley has become a key player for the Vikings: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 5-6 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Hononegah never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on Jefferson with a sharp 7-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Hononegah pushed their record up to 12-14 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Guilford, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
