Recap: Dunedin Falcons vs. Calvary Christian Warriors
The Dunedin Falcons struggled with assists on Monday (the Calvary Christian Warriors had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Dunedin was dealt a 79-51 loss at the hands of Calvary Christian. Dunedin was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-15.
Haylee Dones and Brook-Lynn Griffey certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Dones scored 25 points along with five steals, while Griffey scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that Griffey scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Trinity Clincy, who scored five points along with four steals.
It was another big night for Ellie Bross, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 15 rebounds for Calvary Christian. Bross is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadyn Wiebe, who scored 12 points along with eight assists and five steals.
Dunedin has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Calvary Christian, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dunedin will take on Sports Leadership & Management at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Calvary Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Calvary Christian is facing Northeast at the right time seeing as Northeast is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
