After flying high against the Coram Deo Academy Lions on Friday, the Weatherford Christian Lions came back down to earth. Weatherford Christian fell just short of Newman International Academy by a score of 55-53. Weatherford Christian lost against Newman International Academy in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 70-39 score last time.

Gavin Ridder was the offensive standout of the contest as he scored 26 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Newman International Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zahir Crowder, who scored 4 points along with 6 rebounds.

Weatherford Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Newman International Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
