Basketball Recap: Halifax Academy Takes a Loss

Halifax Academy was the 66-56 winner over Southampton Academy when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The matchup between the Halifax Academy Vikings and the Southampton Academy Raiders didn't end well, with the Halifax Academy Vikings falling 68-54. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 425th in North Carolina, while the Raiders are ranked 127th in Virginia).

Despite the loss, Halifax Academy still got an impressive performance from Landon Peoples, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards. Peoples has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Crawford, who posted 13 points and three steals.

Halifax Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Southampton Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Halifax Academy and Wilson Christian Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 7:45 p.m. on December 20th. Halifax Academy is facing Wilson Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Wilson Christian Academy is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. Southampton Academy will take on New Covenant in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
